Prescreening is required in our BIO Department. Come in anytime to prescreen. 

Subjects need a malodor score of 3+ to qualify for this study.

 

Study times: 8:30am – 3:20pm

 

Study dates and groups: 

Group 1

V1:  Wed.    5/29 – 30 min.

V2: Thurs.  5/30  – 1 hr.

V3: Thurs.  5/30  – 30 min. (8 hour return)

V4: Fri.        5/31  – 30 min. ( 24 hour return)

 

Group 2

V1:  Tues.   6/4 – 30 min.

V2: Wed.   6/5 –  1 hr.

V3: Wed.   6/5 – 30 min. (8 hour return)

V4: Thurs. 6/6  – 30 min. ( 24 hour return)

 

Conflicting Studies:  No arms, deodorant or body studies 

Inclusion Criteria 

  • Subject is female or male between 18 and 75 years of age; 
  • Subject has a screening odor score of 3 ≤ at all test sites for all odor judges; 
  • Subject has a baseline odor score of 0 at all test sites for all odor judges; 
  • Subject agrees to abstain from use of all deodorants, antiperspirants, cologne, and perfumed or medicated products for the duration of the study; 
  • Subject agrees to avoid conditions that involve exposure to strong odors, prior to the baseline assessment and for the duration of the study; 
  • Subject agrees to refrain from introducing any new cosmetic products or toiletries during the study; 
  • Subject agrees to refrain from wearing clothes that have been laundered in bleach, fabric softeners, and/or any fragrance; 
  • Subject demonstrates dependability and intelligence in following directions; 
  • Subject agrees to refrain from eating spicy foods, including garlic and onions at least 24 hours prior to the malodor evaluations; 
  • Subject agrees to refrain from using perfumes on the body, after shave lotions, bath oils, and hair spray until the completion of the 8 hour malodor evaluation time point; 
  • Subject agrees to refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages for at least 8 hours prior to the malodor evaluations. 
  • Subject is dependable and able to follow directions as outlined in the protocol and anticipates being available for all study visits; 
  • Subject is willing to participate in all study evaluations; 
  • Subject is in generally good health and has a current Panelist Profile/Medical History Form on file. 

Exclusion Criteria 

  • Female subject is pregnant, nursing, planning a pregnancy, or not using adequate birth control; 
  • Subject exhibits any visible skin diseases or irritation of the test sites that may be confused with a skin reaction from the test material; 
  • Subject reports a history of allergy or adverse reactions to cosmetics, antiperspirants, deodorants or other personal care products; 
  • Subject is a smoker and/or exhibits strong “spice” odors (i.e., garlic, curry, etc.). 
  • Subject has received treatment with sympathomimetics, antihistamines, vasoconstrictors, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents, and/or systemic or topical corticosteroids within one week prior to initiation of the study; 
  • Subject has known allergies to skin treatment products or cosmetics, toiletries, and/or topical drugs; 
  • Subject has a history of acute or chronic dermatologic, medical, and/or physical conditions which would, in the opinion of the Principal Investigator, preclude application of the test material and/or could influence the outcome of the study; 
  • Subject exhibits irritation, tattoos, sunburn, rashes, scratches, burn marks, scarring, etc. on the test sites, which might interfere with evaluations of test results; 
  • Subject is currently taking any medications which, in the opinion of the Principal Investigator, may interfere with the study; 
  • Subject has a history of skin cancer, or is currently undergoing treatment for active cancer of any kind; 
  • Subject has diabetes.
